Examination TextElizabeth Burley aged 38 years lodging at Mr Carpenter's in Salisbury Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of James Burley (who died 23rd Day of May 1759) to whom she was married at the Fleet the 22nd Day of March 1754, that he was before his intermarriage (and while single) a yearly hired servant in the capacity of a Coachman to Mr Oliphant a Coach Master in the Wood Yard in Long Acre in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of three or four years but what wages he had she cannot tell, but had diet and lodging in the said Mr Oliphant house, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together after his quitting the said Mr. Oliphant's service as her said husband hath informed this Examinant, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since her said husband's death, that she hath two children living by her said husband to wit Hannah aged four years and upwards and Elizabeth aged two years and upwards both now with this Examinant.
