Examination Text | Margaret Jones aged about 28 years lodging in Mercers Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she never was married, that she was bound an apprentice by the Officers of this Parish by an indenture until she should attain the age of 21 years or day of marriage to Samuel Shalford a Cabinet Maker in Greek Street in the Parish of St Anne within the liberty of Westminster and there served about two years and an half, and then her Master removed into Newport Street, the corner of St Martin's Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid, and this Examinant with him, and there served her said Master about seven months longer, and then she this Examinant and her said Master parted by consent which is about 16 years ago, that she never was turned over to any other Master, and never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any Parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 together since.
