Examination TextMary Smith aged 30 years lodging in Pump Court in White Hart Yard in Drury Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the wife of John Smith (gone for a soldier) to whom she was married at the ffleet 11 years ago, that she this Examinant hath heard her said husband say that he was bound an apprentice by an indenture (by the officers of the Parish of St Andrew Holborn above the Bars) in the County of Middlesex for seven years to John Cunningham a Cordwainer in Pump Court aforesaid and there served all his said time out which expired about 13 years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant since, that she hath two children living by her said husband to wit John aged eight years and upwards and Jane aged three years and upwards both now with this Examinant, and also that she this examinant is now pregnant. Sworn the sixth Day of March 1760 before Benjamin Cox.
