Examination TextGrissel Greer aged near 60 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Anne within the liberty of Westminster upon her oath saith that she is the wife of Alexander Greer (now in the Lock Hospital in Kent Street) to whom she was married at Edinburgh about 18 years ago, that her said husband was born in the Kingdom of Ireland, that her said husband never did any act to gain a settlement in England, that she this Examinant before her intermarriage and when single was a yearly hired servant to Dr Bowman on the Pavement in St Martin's Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields aforesaid for the space of nine years at the yearly wages of five pounds diet and lodging, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since she quitted the said Dr Bowman's service.
