Examination Text | Honor Simmonds aged 62 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of William Simmonds, that since the death of her said husband (she having only one child living which had gained a settlement) she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Poole and Mr Weaver, Peruke Makers in Castle Street by the Mews in the Parish aforesaid for the space of five years at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet and lodging, that she hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since she quitted the aforesaid service. Taken in the workhouse the fifth day of March 1765. |
