| Examination Text | The Examination of Elizabeth Barker in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken upon oath this 27th Day of September 1766. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 25 years of age and upwards, that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Farron in Middle Scotland Yard in the Parish aforesaid for the space of 14 months at the yearly wages of seven Guineas diet and lodging, quitted the same in May last, that she never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the Parish aforesaid, and that Edward Dance servant to the said Mr Farron did beget her with child or children she ago with and is pregnant of, that he the said Edward Dance is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
