Examination TextElizabeth Beale aged 21 Years removed from St Giles in the ffields upon her Oath saith that she was never Married nor bound Apprentice that she was a Yearly hired Servant to Mr Walter Scott a Staymaker at No 5 Hanover Street Long Acre in the Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields within the Liberty of Westminster from August 1791 to December 1792 being Sixteen Months all under one hiring at the Yearly Wages of ffive Guineas diet is and lodging since she quitted , which she hath done i to gain a subsequent Settlement. And this Examinant upon her voluntary Oath further saith that she was on the 22nd day of April last delivered in the Workhouse of and in the Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields of a Male Bastard baptised John yet living and become chargeable to the said Parish of Saint Martin in the ffields and that John Jones a Coach Painter & who worked for Mess Benwell & Houlditon in Long Acre hired several Times Carnal Knowledge of for a Body and did beget of of Body the said Male Bastard Child and that he the said John Joints is the true and only ffather thereof and Man else but where he is to be found or heard of she Knoweth not.
