Examination TextThe Examination of Christian Fleming now servant to Mr Clinton a Jeweller in Salisbury Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the liberty of Westminster taken upon oath this 14th Day of September in the year of our Lord 1770. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 30 years of age, that she never was married, that she hath been a yearly hired servant to Mr Clinton aforesaid for the space of one year and upwards at the yearly wages of 6 pounds diet and lodging, And this Examinant upon her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that William Thompson, a Gentleman's servant but now is dead, did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant off, and that he the said William Thompson is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year above written before Peter Planck.
