Examination TextDorothy Williams aged 51 years and upwards passed from the Parish of St Margaret within the liberty of Westminster to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields in the same liberty upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Edward Williams (who died 12 years ago) to whom she was married at the ffleet about 18 years ago, that her said husband before his intermarriage with this Examinant and while single and unmarried (as she this Examinant verily believes and hath been informed) was a yearly hired servant in the capacity of a Hosler to Mr Gore, Inn Keeper at the sign of the George in Hedge Lane in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of two years (but what wages he had she this Examinant cannot tell) diet and lodging in the said Mr Gore's house, and then and there intermarried with this Examinant (she this Examinant being servant to the said Mr Gore), that her said husband never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes, nor hath she this Examinant nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband. Taken in the workhouse the third Day of August 1770.
