Examination TextJane Handy aged 76 years passed from the Parish of St Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex to the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the liberty of Westminster upon her oath saith that she is the widow of William Handy (who died 13 years ago) to whom she was married at the Fleet about 37 years ago, that her said husband was a Shoemaker by trade and lived in and rented an house in Hewitts Court in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of 17 years at the yearly rent of 16 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same [blank] years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes afterwards, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband. Sworn the 16th Day of October 1769 before Peter Planck.
