Examination TextCatherine McGuinis aged about 17 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. John the Evangelist in the city of Westminster upon her oath saith that she hath been informed by her mother that she (this Examinant) is a bastard, and that she was born in that part of the house known by the sign of the White Hart Inn near Phenix Alley in Long Acre which is in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, that she never was married bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together. Taken in the workhouse the third Day of February 1772.
