Examination TextThomas Coombes aged about 69 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex upon his oath saith that he never was bound an apprentice, that before his intermarriage he was a yearly hired servant in the capacity of a Porter to Mr Church at the sign of the Cardigan Head near Charing Cross in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of three years and an half at the yearly wages of 5 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about [blank] years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, that he was married his present wife Catherine at the Parish Church of St Giles in the Fields aforesaid about 29 years ago. Taken in the workhouse the 16th Day of March 1772.
