Examination TextElizabeth Thorley aged 45 years lay last night in the Watch House of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of [Susins] John Thorley (who died about 25 years ago) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of St Andrew Holborn about 26 years ago, that her said husband was a Letter Carrier in the General Post Office, that he never was bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together to this Examinant's knowledge, that her husband's father was a Letter Carrier and lived in and rented an house in Panton Street in the Parish aforesaid for several years (but what rent he paid for the same she this Examinant cannot tell), but that he her husband's father died in the occupation of the said house, that she this examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband. Sworn the first Day of January 1772 before Thomas Kynaston.
