Examination Text | Edith Gray aged 72 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Andrew Holborn which lies above the Bars in the County of Middlesex upon her oath saith that she is the widow of Joseph Gray, that since the death of her said husband she this Examinant lived in and rented an house in Phenix Alley in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of four years at the yearly rent of 21 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about nine years ago, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since. Taken in the workhouse the 10th day of February 1771. |
