Examination TextThe Examination of Rebecca Masey in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Giles in the Fields in the County of Middlesex taken this eighth day of October 1773. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 23 years of age, that she never was married nor bound an apprentice, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Anson Hair Dresser in Oxendon Street in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of one whole year all under one hiring and received a years wages which is 3 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the said service about four years ago, that she hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin the Fields, and that Timothy Pinto a Merchant lodging at Mr Palmer's in Great Bell Alley in Coleman Street London had carnal knowledge of her body in the month of January last in the house of Mr Palmer aforesaid and several times afterwards in the said house at which or one of which times he the said Timothy Pinto did beget her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant of, and that he the said Timothy Pinto is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
