Examination TextSarah How aged 24 years and upwards lodging with Mrs Ditchfield at Mr Bright's a Chandler in St Martin's Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the liberty of Westminster taken this 11th Day of October in the year of our Lord 1774. This Examinant on her oath saith that she never was married nor bound an apprentice, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Tomlinson Office Keeper of the Chelsea Board Office the corner of Scotland Yard in the Parish aforesaid for the space of two years and upwards all under one hiring at the yearly wages of 6 pounds diet and lodging, that she quitted the said service the seventh of September 1773, that she hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, And this Examinant on her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that Thomas Egerton Shopman to Mr Millan Book Seller near Scotland Yard had carnal knowledge of her body about the beginning of the month of January last in the Kitchen at the house of Mr Millan's aforesaid and several times afterwards in the same place at which or one of which time he the said Thomas Egerton did beget her with child or children she now goeth with this is pregnant of, and that he the said Thomas Egerton is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
