Examination TextThe Examination of Sophia Findley lodging at the Kings Arms in St Martin's Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 12th Day of October in the year 1785. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 2[?] years of age, that she never was married, that she was a yearly hired servant to Mr Cook an Attorney in [New] Street in the Parish aforesaid for the space of one year and nine months all under one hiring at the yearly wages of 6 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same about one year and an half ago, that she hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor hath been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since, And this Examinant on her oath further saith that she was on the 16th Day of August last delivered at the house in St Martin's Court aforesaid of a female bastard child (not yet christened) yet living and is likely to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and Samuel Sheepy who belongs to the India House did beget of her body the said female bastard child, and that he the said Samuel Sheepy is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
