Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth Vialls lodging with Mr Vialls in Round Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 31st Day of December 1779. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 20 years of age, that she never was married, that she was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr Amos Vialls a Pattern Drawer in New Round Court in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served her said Master all the said time out, that she hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the expiration of her said apprenticeship, that she was on 5th of December instant delivered in the Hospital near Westminster Bridge of a female bastard child [sic] (since christened William) yet living and is become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that William Little a Plumber (but where he is now to be found she cannot tell, did use to be paid at the Bricklayers Armes in Green Street by Grosvenor Square) did beget on her body the said male child, and that he the said William Little is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year first above written before William Hyde, Thomas Bullard.
