Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Pearcy a Rogue and Vagabond apprehended by William Mitchell one of the Bedels of the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex and brought before me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the liberty of Westminster aforesaid, taken this 14th Day of September in the year of our Lord 1778. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is about 36 years of age, that she is the wife of George Pearcy (gone from her) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of St. Peter in the Parish of Sudbury in the County of Worcester the 19th Day of August in the year 1758, that her said husband is a Taylor by trade and served the last five years of his apprenticeship to Mr Mates a Taylor in Fryer Street in the Parish of St Helen in the city of Worcester as her said husband hath informed her, that her said husband hath not done any act to gain a subsequent settlement to this Examinant's knowledge, that she hath three children by her said husband to wit William aged eight years and upwards, Ann aged seven years and upwards and Mary aged 14 months all now with this Examinant. Sworn the day and year abovesaid before Sampson Wright.
