| Examination Text | The Examination of Ann Flaxmore in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this 15th Day of April 1778. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 17 years of age, that she never was married, that she is big with child or children which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that Humphry Rotten a Labourer late of Peerpool Lane did beget on her with child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant off, and that he the said Humphry Rotten is the true and only father thereof and no man else.
