Examination TextMargaret Patton aged 64 years and upwards lodging at Mrs Peter's in that part of Chandos Street which is in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her saith that she is the wife of John Patton (who died the 29th August in the year 1771) to whom she was married in Scotland in the year 1737, that her said husband lived in and rented an house (known by the sign of the Highlander) in Hedge Lane in the Parish aforesaid for the space of two years at the yearly rent of 35 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about 12 years ago, that her said husband never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes afterwards, nor hath she this Examinant been nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband. Sworn the 24th Day of April 1778 before J. Hale.
