Examination TextSarah Stoakes aged 42 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith that she is the widow of John Stoakes (who died between five and six years ago) to whom she was married at the Parish Church of St Mildred in the Poultry in the City of London about 13 years ago, that her said husband was a Baker by trade and lived in and rented an house in Russell Street near Drury Lane in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of five or six years at the yearly rent of 40 pounds besides taxes, quitted the same about 13 years [sic], that her said husband never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes afterwards, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the death of her said husband.
