Examination TextJohn Doyle aged 41 years lodging with Mr Higgins in Phenix Alley in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon his oath saith that he never was married nor bound an apprentice, that he was a yearly hired servant to Mr Brachan a Fruiterer near the sign of the Crown in that part of Little Russell Street which is in the Parish aforesaid for the space of nine months and then was taken ill and was absent from the said service for the space of a month but was not discharged the said service, and then returned to the said service again and there in continued for the space of six months longer at the yearly wages of 12 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the same last April, that he hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since. Sworn the 10th day of September 1777 before John Goodchild.
