Examination TextThe Examination of James Skelton lodging at No.9 in Glazinby Court in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields and works at Mrs Kingstead's and Poole's Coach makers in Long Acre taken this seventh Day of October in the year 1777. This Examinant on his oath saith that Thomas Skelton aged six years and upwards now with this Examinant is the true and lawful son of Thomas Skelton, who is absconded, by Jane his wife (deceased), that the said Thomas Skelton never was bred to any trade kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes, that James Skelton the said Thomas Skelton's father is a Wheelwright by trade and lives in and occupies a house and barn of his own on Clay Hill in the Parish of Epsom in the County of Surry of the value of 100 pounds. Sworn the seventh Day of October 1777 before J. Hale, John Machin.
