Examination TextThe Examination of Mary French a Rogue and Vagabond apprehended by Thomas Bell one of the Bedels of the Parish of St Martin in the Fields within the Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex and brought before me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the Liberty of Westminster aforesaid taken this 16th Day of December in the year of our Lord 1775. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 19 years of age, that she never was married nor bound an apprentice, that she was a yearly hired servant to John Lyons Lighterman in Crown Court the Parish of St Mary at Lambeth in the County of Surrey for the space of three years all under one hiring at the yearly wages of 40 shillings diet and lodging quitted the same about five years ago, that she hath not done any act to gain a subsequent settlement. Sworn the Day year abovesaid before John Goodchild.
