Examination TextThe Examination of Elizabeth Wilkinson in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields taken this second Day of December in the year 1775. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 29 years of age and upwards, that she never was married nor bound an apprentice, that she was on the Day of March which was in the year 1772 delivered at Mr Finch a Chandler the corner of St Martin's Court in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields of a Male Bastard Child (since christened John) yet living and is become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin the Fields, and that Edward Pritchard a Victualler in Feathers Court, Holborn did beget on her body the said Male Bastard Child and that he the said Edward Pritchard is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the day and year first above written before Thomas Bullard, John Goodchild.
