Examination TextThomas Wade aged about 45 years lodging at Mr. Read?s a Grinder?s in that part of Exeter Street which is in the parish of St Martin in the Fields, Upon his Oath saith That he was by his Father bound an apprentice by an Indenture for Seven Years but no consideration of money given with him to Mr. Walter Tate a Cordwainer in Great Suffolk Street in the parish aforesaid and their served his master for the space of about five years and then his said Master died and his mistress assigned him to Mr. Gaines a Cordwainer in Whitcomb Court in the parish aforesaid and their served the said Mr. Gaines for about one year, and then left the said Mr. Gaines and about two months after he left the said Mr. Gaines he inlisted for a Soldier, That he never kept house or rented a tenement of ten pounds by the year paid any Parish taxes nor was a yearly hired Servant in any one place for twelve months together, That he was married to his present Wife Elizabeth at the Parish Church of St Anne Westminster, about fourteen or 15 years ago (next January) by whom he hath four Children to wit Richard about thirteen or fourteen years, Thomas aged about seven years, James aged about five years and John aged about Nine Weeks all now with this Examinant. Sworn the 24th Day of November 1780 Before William Hyde.
