Examination TextThe Examination of Ann Alvers Lodging with Mrs. Nugent in the George Inn Yard in Hedge Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields Taken this 14th Day of April 1781. This Examinant on her Oath saith that she is 23 years of age, That she was Born in Lumley Court in the strand in the said Parish of Saint Martin in the Fields as she hath been Informed and verily believes to be true, That she never was Married Bound an apprentice kept house rented a tenement of ten pounds by the year paid any Parish taxes nor was a yearly hired Servant in any one place for twelve months together, That her Father Alexander Alvers (who died about three months ago) was a Cordwainer by Trade and was Born in that part of Great Britain called Scotland as she hath been Informed and verily believes to be true, That he lived in and Rented an House in Lumley Court aforesaid for the space of seven years But what Rent he paid for the same she cannot tell, That he her said father never kept any other House in England either before or since that in Lumley Court to this Examinant?s knowledge or Belief. Sworn the 14th Day of April 1781 Before William Hyde.
