Examination TextThe Examination of Jane Smith Singlewoman taken upon Oath this thirty first Day of January in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and thirty Seven Who upon her Voluntary Oath saith she is about twenty four years old that she never was marryed that on Tuseday the third day of this instant January she was delivered of a female bastard child in the Workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the ffields within the Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex (since christened Mary) which said female bastard Child is become chargeable into the said Parish of St Martin in the ffields And that one Daniel Tunnoth a Musician with whom she became acquainted at the Sir John ffalstaff's Head Tavern near Charing Cross in the said Parish of St Martin in the ffields she being there some time a Servant net her this Examinant in Oxendon Street in the parish of St Martin in the ffields aforesaid on or about the seventeenth Day of March last past and that she went with him to a Tavern at or near the End of St Martin's Lane in the Strand in the parish aforesaid and that he the said Daniel Tinnoth had the Carnal Knowledge of her Body several times on a Chair or Chairs in a Room up two pair of Stairs in the said Tavern at which or one of which times he begot on her Body the said female bastard Child and that he the said Daniel Tinnoth is the true and only ffather thereof and no man else Sworn the Day and Year abovewritten Before me Jas Fraser The mark of Jane Smith
