Examination TextThe Examination of Jane Watkins in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St Anne within the liberty of Westminster taken this sixth Day of August 1773. This Examinant on her oath saith that she is 32 years of age, that she is the widow of William Watkins (who died last May was 12 months ago), to whom she was married at the Parish Church of St Martin in the Fields the 10th day of February in the year 1765, that her said husband was bound an apprentice by an indenture for seven years to Mr Rymer, a Shoemaker in Cock Spur Street in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields and there served his said Master all the said term as her said husband hath informed this Examinant, that her said husband hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since the expiration of his said apprenticeship, that she this Examinant hath not kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year nor paid any parish taxes since the death her said husband, that she hath two children by her said husband to wit John aged four years and Mary aged three years the 30th August both now with this Examinant. Sworn the day and year above written before Thomas Kynaston.
