Examination TextPaul Baudrant aged 67 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields passed from the Parish of St. Mary le Bone in the County of Middlesex upon his oath saith that while single and unmarried he was a yearly hired servant in the capacity a Cook to his Grace Charles Duke of Somerset in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of two years at the yearly wages of 40 pounds diet and lodging, quitted the said service about 40 years ago, that he never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes nor been a yearly hired servant while single in any one place for 12 months together since.
