Examination TextJohn Barnet aged about 26 years lodging at a house of one Mr Cox in Plough Court in Hartshorn Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields where he hath lodged about half a year said he was married to Martha his wife of the Hand and Pen in the Fleet about four years ago and hath one child by her to wit Sarah aged upwards of three years, that he this Examinant was bound an apprentice by indenture for seven years to Elizabeth Fryar, widow, who kept a Barbers and Peruke Makers shop at the corner of Long Alley in the Strand in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, whom he there served about three years and an half, and his mistress then dying her executor Mr Hollingworth in Maiden Lane gave him liberty to go where he pleased and accordingly he went and lived with his father and mother in a little Court opposite Parker's Lane in Drury Lane in the Parish of St Giles in the Fields where he continued near four years more, and that he never kept any house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant since his apprenticeship expired which is about six years ago. Sworn the 14th Day of October 1738 before me Val Hilder.
