Examination TextAnn Cantwell aged about 60 years removed from the Parish of St. Mary le Strand saith she is the widow of Thomas Cantwell (who has been dead about seven years) to whom she was married at Church in the city of London (the name or in what part thereof does not remember) about 33 years ago and hath never a child living by him, that her said husband was an Apothecary and lived in and rented a house in Mercer Street in Long Acre in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of a quarter of a year and then died, and that she this Examinant continued to live in rent the same house for the space of about a quarter of a year after her said husband's death and paid at the rate of 30 pounds per ann. rent for the same and the poor and other parish taxes during all the time she lived in the same house as aforesaid, and hath not kept any house rented £10 per ann. paid any parish taxes or been a yearly hired servant since she quitted the same. Sworn the sixth Day of June 1740 before Val Hilder.
