Examination TextAnne Jones aged 27 years in the workhouse saith she is the widow of Evans Jones (who has been dead four years), that she was married to him at Bedford nine years ago, that he was a Shoemaker and never kept any house rented £10 by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant, that he served his time as he hath informed this Examinant at the sign of the Boot opposite the Meuse Gate at Charing Cross, and that since his death she this Examinant being a singlewoman and having no child or children living was a yearly hired servant to one Maypas who kept a wine cellar in Scotland Yard in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields where she served him a year and a half, had 5 pounds per ann. wages diet and lodging and came thence about three years ago and hath not been a year in any service since, and that she hath not been married kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes since her said husband's death.
