Examination TextIsabella Southerland aged about 32 years saith she came from Kent last night where she had been hopping, that she is the widow of Robert Southerland (who has been dead about five years) and to whom she was married at St Margaret's Church in Westminster 16 years ago and hath two children by him (to wit) Andrew aged 13 years and Ann aged five years, now with her, that her said husband was a Soldier in the Lord Drummond's Company in the Third Regiment of Foot Guards and was a Shoemaker by trade, but where he was born or served his time knows not, and that he never kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant as she ever heard, that she never was married before she married her said husband, and was a yearly hired servant to Major Naysmith who lodged at Mrs Lawson's a Barbers in Hedge Lane where she served him two years and had 5 pounds per ann. wages diet and lodging, quitted the service three years before marriage and was not a servant afterwards.
