Examination TextElizabeth Dufort aged 35 years lodging a house let out in tenements in Castle Street in the Meuse where she has lodged four years saith she is the wife of John Dufort to whom she was married at a publick house in the Fleet (but by whom in what part thereof knows not) [blank] years ago and hath four children by him namely George aged five years, Joseph aged three years, James aged near two years and Sarah aged near 10 months, that her said husband is a Shoemaker and was bound apprentice by indenture for seven years to one John Garrett, who was his father-in-law and lodged in the house Mr Vere now keeps in Bear Street in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields where he served all his said apprenticeship as she believes (she not knowing him), and that he never kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes nor was a yearly hired servant, that he run away and left her yesterday and where he now is knows not. [Sworn the 27th day of January 1741].
