Examination TextWilliam Ellam aged 35 years lodging at Mr Ealls's in Chequer Court in the Strand in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon his oath saith he was married his late wife Eleanor (who died in child bed about 10 months ago) at the Bull and Garter in the Fleet eight years ago, that he was bound an apprentice by indenture for eight years to one Mr Wright, a Bridle Cutter who lived in Hunts Court in St Martin's Lane in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields where and with whom he served five years and an half, and then his said Master died and he this Examinant was turned over to one William Morris who succeeded said Wright and who lived in the same house in Hunts Court aforesaid where and with whom he served the remainder part of his time which expired about 12 years ago, since which he never kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes or was a yearly hired servant afterwards, hath one child living, Ann aged upwards of five years with this Examinant. Sworn the second Day of February 1742 before me James Fraser.
