Examination TextMartha Hedgley aged 25 years lodging at one Mrs. Reads at the Globe alehouse in the Strand in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields says she is the wife of Edward (now on board the Perl man of warr where he has been ever since the first of last June), that he never was bound apprentice never kept house or rented 10 pounds by the year or paid any parish taxes, that he was yearly hired servant to one Mr Turner a Gingerbread Baker in Little St Martin's Lane in the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields for upwards of a year at 3 pounds per ann. diet and lodging, quitted the same about three years ago and never was a yearly hired servant afterwards, that she intermarried with her said husband at the Kings Head in the Fleet about two years ago and hath one child by him now living (to wit) Elizabeth aged 19 months and is now pregnant. Sworn the 23rd Day of October 1744 before James Fraser.
