Examination TextThe Examination of Mary Hierons singlewoman taken upon oath this second Day of April 1746. This Examinant upon her oath saith that she was on the 17th Day of March instant removed from the Parish of St Margaret Westminster and that she is 24 years of age never was married or bound an apprentice kept house rented 10 pounds by the year paid any parish taxes, and that she was a yearly hired servant to one Mr Slaney a Grocer in Bedfordbury in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields for the space of two years at 3 pounds per ann. diet and lodging, quitted the same about 18 months ago and then went to live with one Mr Zachariah Ball, a Cooper in St Johns Street in the Parish of St Sepulchre without and lived with him three quarters of a year at 3 pounds per ann. diet and lodging, quitted the same about two months ago, And this Examinant upon her voluntary oath further saith that she is now Great with child which is or are likely to be born a bastard or bastards and to become chargeable to the said Parish of St Martin in the Fields, and that Samuel Naylor apprentice to her said late Master Zachariah Ball had carnal knowledge of her body some time in the month of July last and several times afterwards in a room up two pair of stairs at the said Mr Ball's in and upon a bed there at which or one of which times he did beget her with child of the child or children she now goeth with and is pregnant off, and that he the said Samuel Naylor is the true and only father thereof and no man else. Sworn the second Day of April 1746 before James Fraser.
