Examination Text | Mary Cane aged 27 years in the workhouse of and in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields upon her oath saith she is the wife of William Cane (who has been gone from her this seven years) to whom she was married at the Fleet at the sign of the Hand and Pen eight years ago, that he was a Waterman and served his time with Mr Farlow in Hungerford Market in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields, but can't tell when it expired, and never kept house rented a tenement of 10 pounds by the year paid any parochial taxes or was a yearly hired servant in any one place for 12 months together since. Taken this 23rd of February 1748. |
