Office February 14th. 1772
Took into Consideration the Minutes of the Committee for the
Parish of Saint Clement Danes
dated the of 7th Instant wherein is a
Recommendation to the Commissioners to Pave little Shire Lane
with Pebbles or Rags the Upper part of Ship Yard from the top
to the Gullyhole with six Inch Granite and the remaining part of
Houghton Street inch Pebbles of Seven Inches.
Ordered that little Shire Lane
be forthwith Paved with
Pebbles or Rags that part of Ship Yard as above described with
Squared Granite Stone Six Inches Deep and the bed or bottom of
each Stone be 4/5th of the Superficies of the top and that the
remaining part of Houghton Street be Paved with Sized
Pebbles 7 Inches Deep
That where it is necessary to have Footways in the
above Places the same be Paved with Purbeck or Yorkshire
Elland Edge Stone 2 Inches thick & a Moor Stone Kirb 12
Inches by 8.
That the Committee for the Parish of Saint Clement Danes
do Advertize and Contract for Paving the said Places & for
keeping the Carriage ways thereof in Repair & that the
Paving of such Places be done under the Direction of the
Surveyor to the Commrs.
Mr. Nixon Inspector having amongst other things
this day Reported to the Commissioners That the Carriage
and Footways of Great Shire Lane
are out of Repair It was
Ordered That the Consideration thereof be referred to the
Committee for the Parish of Saint Clement Danes
