this 20th. Jany. 1797 in the Parish of
St. George Hanover Square at the house
of Thos. Jones< no role > the Sign of
the Bricklayer arms Duke Street
Grosvenor Square parish of St. George
Hanover Square
before Anthy Gell< no role > his Majesty's Coroner
for the said City and Liberty touching
the death of Jane Brook Lacon< no role > an
Infant Aged 3 Year 8 Months and
11 days, then and there lying dead

Anne Such< no role > a Servant to Mrs. Lacon Milliner
and Mantua maker in Bruton Street Berkley Square
being sworn deposeth that on Tuesday last the 17th. Inst
about 5 o'Clock in the Evening being in the Nursery Room with the deceased and her
Brother an Infant [..] her younger [..] Brother she
went down Stairs to fetch up a Candle and left the
said two Children in the Nursery and returned immediately
and when she went into the Nursery she saw the dec'd
in the Room all in Flames & called for Assistance and
Mr. Lacon came up and assisted and extinguished the
Fire and went immediately for Mr. Lewis Apothecary in
Bond Street & also other of the Faculty who used
