where Pistols are usually Tried, the
Deced having the Pistol in his Right
Hand for that he was using to lead [..] Deced down Stayed and having his Hand on the Kir [..] of the [..] Door going into the Passage that the Pistol instanty
went off and Deced fell down being
shot in the Month, are the Ball
passed through his Head, and Deced
died immediately, Says that the
Deced before the Pistol went off, looked
into the Barrell in order to see whether
it was Charged or not as Dept. thought
that the Pistol went off, and Dept. their
thought and now thinks that the Pistol
was discharged by Accident, And
this Dept. says that when the Deced was
going to Fire the Pistol in the Parlour
Dept. desired the Deced not to Fire
it there, that he would break the Wind [..]
and frighten the Children, and that the
Pistol had a Ball in it, to which Deced
Answered that there was no Ball in
it, and that he was going only to
Flash the Pan and Dept. is of Opinion
that the Deced thought there was no Ball
in the Pistol at the time it went off.
And Dept. says that the Deced appeared
to be Cool and Sensible

John Richards< no role >

John Dust< no role > Apprentice to Mr. Richards of
the Strand Gunsmith on his Oath saith That
the Deced came into Mr. Richards's Shop this
Morning a little after Ten o'Clock and
asked for a Pair of Pistols and on the Dept.
asking him of what sort Deced Answered
Duelling Pistols, Says that he shewed Deced
a Pair, and on Deced asking the Price, Dept.
said

said seven Guineas, That the Deced
put down Seven Guineas and said they
were very Dear, Says that John Sicker
took the Money into the Parlour, but
Mr. Richards wane into the Shop immediately
so that Dept. does not know whether he
gave the Money to Mr. Richards, Says, that
the Deced had one of the Pistols in his
Hand and asked for Powder and Ball
Says that he saw some Powder upon
the Bench in the Shop but does not know
who brought it there nor did he see the
Deced put any of it into the Pistol
Says that he had some old Balls and
that Deced took one of them out of
Depts. hand and put it into the Pistol said it [..]
and Deced there went into the Parlour
and Mr. Richards followed, Says that
they both very soon come out of the
Parlour and Mr. Richards was going to
take the Deced down Stairs to try the
Pistol in the usual place as Dept. thought
and Mr. Richards having the Door in
his Hand leading out of the Shop into the
Passage when the Pistol went off, but
Dept. cannot say whether it went off
Accidentally or Designed by, Says that
the Deced imediately fall down in the Shop
bled very much and died imediately
Says that a Surgeon was fetched who
said that the Deced was dead Says
that the Deced when he came into
Mr. Richards's Shop appeared to be
Cool and Sensible.
