Informations taken this 8th. April 1762
at the Parish of St. Margaret within the Liberty
of Westminster
on an Inquisition on View of the
Body of

there lying dead.

of Knights bridge
Porter on
his Oath saith that Yesterday Morning betwixt
nine and ten says a Coachmen
belonging to the
Brentford
Stage was passing will his Coach thro'
Knights bridge
towards Brentford
driving a pair
of Horses on a full Trott says he observed the deced
crossing over a Bridge near the Kings Head at
Knightsbridge
the Coach still proceeding says
that the deced turned round and saw the Coach
advancing towards him; and he heard the driver
of the Coach hollow out to the deced to get out of
the Way, says the deced attempted to get out of
the way but was not [..] enough, says the
deced was thrown to the Ground but whether by
the pole or Horses he cannot say., says he observed
the hear hind Wheel of the Coach to jerk and believes it went over
the deced's Head says he called out to the Coach
man and said he believed he had killed the man
upon which the Coachman turned round but did
not offer to stop. says that the deced crossed the road so
short upon the Horses that he verily believes
the Coachman could not stop his Horses to prevent
the deced being run over says he helpt to lift
the deced up upon his Backside but he never
spoke says that the deceds head was flatned
and one of his Eyes almost out of his Head says
he left the deced with several persons about him
and did not see the deced after till he was dead
when the Deponent assisted is bringing the deced this
day from St. George's Hospital
in order for an
Inquisition to be taken upon him.
