that if they were to become Governors the Greatest
confusion disorder and ill consequences must
attend their management and distribution of
the said Charities which your Petitioners
presume to have been one good reason (among
various other's) why they have never been
allowed to interfere as a body (tho' many of them
have acted and now act individually by election)
as Governors of either of the said Hospitals

Your Petitioners therefore
humbly pray your Lordship that
the said Common Seal so devised
made and appointed for the affairs
and sealing of writings of and
concerning the said Hospitals as
herein before mentioned may be
restored and returned to the Custody
of the Chamberlain of the said City for
the time being and may always from
henceforth remain and be kept in the
Chamber of the said City in his Custody.
in apurse sealed with the Seals of the
Lord Mayor of the said City for the
time being and of such of the Aldermen
of the said City who have passed the
Chair as shall be present at any time
that the same shall be used and
that the said leases and all kind
of writings which at any time
hereafter may be necessary to pass
under the same Seal being first
examined by the presidents or
Treasurers and a competent number
