the 25th. day of March next an Account of the
money received and paid by him from the
24th. June 1778 to the 24th. June 1779 and the like
orders or resolutions were then made by the
said Common Council upon the Treasurers
of the said other Hospitals which have been
since served upon them with a view to take the
conduct care and management of the said Hospitals
and the great Revenues thereunto belonging
from your petitioners the presidents
Treasurers and the present acting Governors
of such Hospitals respectively into the hands
disposal and controul of the said Common
Council who have never acted in the conduct
or management of the said Hospitals or
either of them as Common Council since
the foundation thereof.

That the Governors who have conducted
the affairs of the said Hospitals from the
original con state to the present prosperous
flourishing state of their Revenues, by the
ancient custom and usuage of every
Hospital have been erected for life and
duly attend all the Courts and Committees
and perform the various duties of their
office with great attention and assiduity
without any recompence or Advantage p

That the Common Council are a body
so numerous (being 236 in number) and
so fluctuating (being elected annually on
St. Thomas's day when many lose their
elections and fresh men come in their room)
