Subscriptions were recomended by the
Treasurer towards defraying the great expences of
this Hospital.

Report of an intended
applicn. to Parliamt.
respecting the claim
of the Common Council
to be Govrs. of the Royal
Hospitals instead of
Prosecuting the
Petition to the Lord
Chancellor.

The Treasurer acquainted the Court that the
Petition of the Presidents Treasurers and
Governors of the Royal Hospitals to the Lord
Chancellor as Visitor relative to the claim of the
Common Council of the City of London to be
Governors of the said Hospitals had Pursuant to
the orders of the respective General Courts of the
said Hospitals been presented and received a
Hearing but no Order had been made thereon
and at a Meeting of the Presidents and
Treasures of the respective Hospitals it having
been thought adviseable to apply to Parliament
for redress The Treasurer informed the Court
that the occasion of calling it was to take the
sense and directions of the Court thereon.

Order thereon


Whereupon a motion was made and
seconded that it should be referred to the
President and Treasurer of this Hospital in
conjunction with the Presidents and Treasurers
of the other Royal Hospitals to Prepare and
Procure to be presented to the Right Honble
the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament
assembled a Petition for leave to bring in a
Bill for establishing and confirming the
present acting Governors of the respective
Hospitals of Saint Bartholomew, Bethelem
