Order to begin the
Rebuilding the Church


And the clause in the Act of Parliament menconed
in the said report being read & debated It is further ordered
that the said Comittee may pursuant to the said Act proceed
in and concerning the rebuilding the said Church with as much
expedicon as may be without disbursing any of the monies
belonging to the house

about the £30 added
to the Apothecaries
Sallary dureing the war


It is referred to the said Comittee to consider whether it
be fitt to continue or take away the Thirty pounds per Ann
or any part of it and how much which was added by a General
Court the 22th: of August 1694 to the Apothecaries Sallary to
continue dureing the Warr in regard of the dearness of some
sort of Drugge and the great number of out Patients

Mr: Samuel Lethulier< no role > and Mr. Joseph Brookbank< no role > being
named for to be chosen Governor . of this house It was left to
the Comittee to Inquire whether they are not Governor: of any
other Hospital and in case they be not, then to send Staves to them

1698 haveing bin Audited by Auditor thereunto appointed was
presented to declared & approved by this Court

Five of them Auditor : to Joyne with the Four standing Auditor.
or any two of them for Auditing the Accompt of Mr: Treasurer
for the year ending Michaelmass last.

At clause in an Act of Parliament Intituled an Act
for the compleating the Building and adorning the
Cathederal Church of St: Paul London and for repairing
the Collegiate Church of St: Peter Westminster made
Anno Occavo & nono Guliehin tertij Regis

Parliamt. about Church


And whereas the parish Church of St: Thomas in Southwark
is so much decayed that of necessity it must be rebuilt And it being
incumbant upon the Hospital to Rebuild the same which after so
great charge as the Governor. have bin at to Newbuild the Hospital
itself they are not able to doe without expending a great part of
that Revenue which now is laid out for the cure of sick and wounded
Seamen and Soldiers which in great numbers together with other
poor people are every year sent thither for help and releif Be it
further enacted by the Authority aforesaid That a sum not exceeding
Three Thousand pounds part of the duty hereby granted shall in
Four years be paid towards the Building the said Church of St. Thomas
aforesaid according to such direction as the prsident Treasurer and
Governor of the said Hospital with allowance of the Oath Bishop of
Canterbury the Bishop of London and the Lord Major of London
for the time being or any two of their shall aprove & allow anything
in this Act to the contrary in any wife notwithstanding
