That upon the Choosing of every President Since that time, Mr Trear
for the time being was in the Chaire, and Held the Court; And that
there is not the least mencon made of any Applicacon to the Lord
Mayor for the Appointing of those Courts. And therefore the
Appointing of a Court by the Grand Committee for Thursday next
was done as they apprehended in pursuance of antient practice
used in the said Hospitall, and not out of any Disrespect to the
Chaire. Whereupon his Lordship said, the practice had
been otherwise at the other Hospitalls, and more perticularly
at Christs Hospitall; Which was founded and Incorporated
together with this Hospitall and Bridewell . But however
tho' he could not attend himselfe on Thursday next at this
Hospitall, The Governors should not be disappointed of the
Court, Sumoned for that Day; And gave a Letter under his
hand Dated the 27th: February to Mr. Trear, where by he desired
Mr Trear to hold the said Court (He being engaged that Day
at the Sessions in the Old Baily . A Copy of which Letter is
as followeth (vizt.) To Wm. Cole< no role > Esqr . Trear of St. Thomas's Hospitall

Sr. I being Engaged on Thursday next at the Sessions in the old
Baily , doe desire you to Hold a Court that day at 8 th. Thomas's
Hospitall for the Election of a President in the Room of 8 th.

Mr. Trear by Direction of the Court took the Chaire.

The Orders and proceedings of the Three last Generall Courts Held the 10th:
of May, and the 10th. and 19th: of January last, were Read and approved.
Mr. Trear acquainted the Court, That thesaidTwo last Generall Courts
were Called particularly on Occasion of the Bill then depending in the House
of Commons for a new Bridge between Lambeth and Westminster near
Peter borough House: And therefore no Report was made from the Grand
Committee to those Courts, or any other Business done therein.

That pursuant to the Directions of the last Court, Their peticon had been
presented, to the and House of Comons and Councill were ordered to be Heard for the Hospitall; That
Mr. Reeves, and Mr. Peer Williams< no role > were Imployed as Councill, who
Attended the House Two dayes, with Dr. Jurin, Mr Machin, and many
others as Witnesses on the part of the Hospitall, to have made out the
Allegacons of your Peticon. But the House upon Hearing only
some part of th Witnesses for the City of London (whose petition
came first on) thought fitt to dropp their further proceeding on the
said Bill: And Mr. Trear particularly informed the Court, That Dr
