Israel Wolfe< no role > of Denmark street Ratcliffe Highway in the County of
Middlesex Chapman Father of the above named Prosecutrix, who is under
the Age of Fourteen Years) Maketh oath that the above named Deft Thomas
(Booth being Indicted at the last Session held for this County at this place
and found agt. him for an assault with an Intent to Ravish the said Prosecutrix
Martha Wolfe< no role > , He the Deft therefore Pleaded Not Guilty thereto at the same Session
pursuant to his Recognizance taken in the Court of King's Bench for that purpose
and entred into Fresh Recognizance to Try his Traverse at this present Sessions:
And this Depont. further Saith that he possitively Intended to Bring the said Cause
on to be Tryed at this Sessions and had Consulted his Attorney and Witnesses to make
preparation for the same, But this Depont. Solemnly Saith that on or about
the twenty Eighth day of December last, the said Prosecutrix Martha Wolfe< no role > this
Deponts. said Daughter/ Absented herself or Absconded from this Deponts. house and
Family and hath not since been heard of, Altho this Depont. possitively Saith
that he and his Wife have made the most Diligent Search and Enquiry after
her both by Day and Night to the Utmost of their power and Ability, but have
not, nor hath either of them been Able as yet to Discover where the said
Martha Wolfe< no role > is, or by any means to Come to her, so as to Procure her
Attendance at the Tryal at this Cause at this Present Sessions: And this
Depont. Further Saith that he Realy believes in his Conscience that the sd
Prosecutrix Martha Wolfe< no role > hath been Seduced or Decoyed away from this
Deponts. house and Family (totally Unknown to this Depont. or his Wife
by some Evil Minded People, merely, Designedly, Wickedly and on Purpose
to Prevent the sd. Martha Wolfe< no role > the prosecutrix (this Deponts. said Daughter)
from Appearing to Give Evidence agt. the sd. Deft on the Tryal of this Cause,
and for no other or better Design Intent or purpose whatsoever:
And this Depont. further Saith that he, his wife and remainder of his Family,
Will all Severally Use their Utmost Endeavours to Discover find out and Produce
the Sd. Martha Wolfe< no role > the said prosecutrix to Give Evidence agt. the [..]
on the Tryal of this Cause at the next Ensueing Sessions to be held at this place,
and hath for that purpose left an adverticemt. to be Inserted in the daily Advertizer
for a Discovery of her the sd. prosecutrix: And Lastly this Depont. Saith that the
Notice of Tryal of this Cause for to Morrow, was not Served on this Depont.
till Saturday last abt. Twelve at Noon and that he this Depont. did on Saturday
Evening last personally Serve the Deft Booth & his attorney's Clk (at his Master's
house) Severally with [..] Notice of Motion here unto Annext, by delivering to each
